Fire Alarms and Bread

Today was EMH's birthday. We spent the day together at Hamilton High School. Bird was also with us. Lunch time came and flew past me before there was time to eat. Therefore, Bird volunteered to microwave some spaghetti for us. Before too long, the teacher next door came into the room and said that someone had started a fire in the microwave.

Sure enough, Bird didn't know that you couldn't put a paper towel down under bread and then set the timer for a few minutes. She had walked away and wasn't paying attention. The room was quickly filled with a terrible smoke smell.

As if things couldn't get worse, ust as we were trying to open windows and air things, the fire alarm goes off. Bird is immediately fearful that she has caused this false alarm. The voice of the AP comes over the speaker and explains that there is a false alarm and there is no fire.

A few minutes later, the teacher next to us explains that the hallway is filled with a terrible smell. She calls the office and is told that a student had lit a trashcan. Bird relaxed. It wasn't her microwave mistake after all.

Phew.
