Rob Bushway over at GottaBeMobile passes along a rumor that Dell is intending to launch a Tablet PC next spring. I have no idea if this is going to happen, but the rumor isn't new. Engadget posted a similar rumor back in July...uhm, 2004. More recently, the eWeek Channel Insider reported this fall that a Dell executive openly talked about the possibility of a Dell Tablet PC during one of the company's Technology Day events. Actually, if I read the article correctly it's a little difficult to tell if Dell is considering a Tablet PC or will launch one for sure.
It will be quite interesting if Dell gets into the Tablet market. There are some companies and institutions that prefer to purchase from a single vendor, such as Dell, and since Dell doesn't have their own branded Tablet PC it can make purchasing a Tablet a little more complicated for them. When Lenovo entered the market with their own Tablet PC it opened up Tablet PCs to more corporate purchasers for a similar reason.
Posted by Loren at October 29, 2006 09:45 PMYes it is true, it will be a notebook format, not the tablet format like Motion.
They also will be coming out with a competitor to the Panasonic Toughbooks, pen enabled? not known at this time
