CNet is running an article about Dan Bricklin's latest creation: WikiCalc, which combines the editing flexibility and sharability of a Wiki with the structure of a spreadsheet. It's very nicely done.
I just downloaded the 0.2 alpha version of WikiCalc. It installed without a hitch. I was hoping I wouldn't run into any problems installing it on my Toshiba M200 Tablet PC because I know Dan uses an M200 Tablet himself. I see he was using his M200 on RocketBoom (link via Ajaxian) to demo WikiCalc too.
Here's what I like about WikiCalc:
* I could download it and try it. I didn't have to register anywhere. I didn't have to risk any data being accidentally made public. I just downloaded, ran the install, clicked through its setup wizard, and started using WikiCalc on my Tablet.
* It's going to be an open source app. Try it. Use it. Extend it.
* Table structures are common design elements in simple browser-based content. WikiCalc is all table cells, all the time.
* It works quite well--especially for a 0.2 alpha.
