Targeting Tablets to small businesses

You're running a small business and it's time to get a new computer for yourself. What would you get? A desktop? Or maybe something more mobile, such as a notebook? Or possibly a Tablet PC?

It looks like Gateway, Intel, Microsoft, and Forbes magazine are joining forces to encourage you to at least consider the latter.

Under Gateway's Tablet PC pages you'll find an announcement for the "$100,000 Edge Contest" which is all about finding and encouraging the next big idea.

The contest is simple: Whoever submits the best 200-word or less business plan wins $100,000. Second prizes includes five Tablet PCs.
The judging criteria are:

i. Overall quality, creativity, & originality of idea submitted

ii. How much difference winning the $100,000 would make to fulfilling the idea

iii. Potential return on investment – how quickly would the $100,000 prize make a difference

iv. How would winning the Gateway Convertible Notebook computer give the winner an edge

Hey Dave, have an idea where a Tablet could be of use?

(Note to contest organizers: This contest would have been ideal for Garage.com to be involved in. Give the top 100 entrants a signed copy of "The Art of the Start." (A digital version would be fine, thank you very much.) Can't you imagine having Guy Kawasaki out talking about Tablets? )
