Tablet Tidbits

I see Scoble signed up for a Tablet PC at his new job in Microsoft:

"...I'm getting a Toshiba tablet because the NEC wasn't available and wasn't on Microsoft's approved list. Turns out that Microsoft's security system requires a PC Card slot, something the NEC doesn't have. The Toshiba is nice, but I'm bummed not to have an NEC."

This means the NEC LitePad that BillG is often seen with isn't even on Microsoft's approved list! Too funny.

In other news: The Seattle Times says Viewsonic is presenting a new Tablet PC at WinHEC 2003:

"Gates also plans to demonstrate a new scroll wheel and set of buttons for navigating Windows-powered devices with one hand. Microsoft designed the controls for hardware makers to add to phones and computers, such as a new version of the laptoplike Tablet PC unveiled at the show by Viewsonic."

Cool! I hope some pictures of the new tablet make their way to the Net.

Turns out that you can acquire an NEC LitePad at Microsoft, but you just don't get IT support, according to LarsBerg's comment on Scoble's blog:
