Ima Hogg

Did you know there was a really person named Ima
Hogg?

Yep, she was real and died in 1975.

The name Ima came from the heroine of a Civil War poem written by her uncle Thomas Elisha. Her dad was the governor of Texas in the late 1800s. His name was James Stephen Hogg.

But, unlike the popular belief, there was not a daughter named Ura. Though, having Ura makes a great story! Instead, Ima had three brothers.

Miss Ima was extremely famous and spent most of her life giving back to the Texas area. She was very generous. She was also lucky enough to have been born in a wealthy family!

The reason the name Ima Hogg is so funny is because it sounds like I'm a Hogg.
