Motion M1400 Tablet PC

Yesterday Motion computing released their latest Tablet PC, Motion M1400!

Tablet PCs are very cool computers that you can carry around. They are better than notebooks because you can write directly on the screen. One reason tablet PCs are cool is because your handwriting can be changed into printing as if you had typed the message with a keyboard. Microsoft calls this handwriting recognition. This does not mean it can tell the difference between my handwriting and my sister's handwriting. It means that it can convert (change) my scribbles to perfect text.

Another reason I like Tablet PCs is because you can draw a picture right on the screen as if you were drawing on a piece of paper, except you won't lose the paper because you can save it onto the hard drive. This also allows you to give your drawing to multiple people without having to re-draw it or photocopy it, allowing for much better quality.

Now Motion Computing calls The Motion M1400 the third generation of Tablet PCs. I personally have tried the first and second generation Tablet PCs. And can't wait to try a third generation Tablet PC. My aunt told me that Tablet PCs with the Dothan (Intel's newer processors to be released sometime in the future) will even be better! But I would rather have something that is available now, that way I could use it NOW. (Hint, Hint.)

But let me tell you a little bit about this Motion M1400. It is not just a big Palm Pilot. (The correct term is PDA because Palm is just one company that makes a PDA, Personal Data Assistant.) This is a complete mobile computer. All the software on my desktop can be put on this computer. While using the internet you don't have to be tied to a desk. This is because it has a wireless connection, due to the Intel PRO/Wireless 2200 BG 802.11 card. (2 thumbs up!) The Motion M1400 also has Bluetooth. Notice it's not Yellowtooth which would imply that the engineers forgot to brush their teeth. Hehe!

Best of all Motion fixed the screen. The glare is decreased. This is why PC magazine just named the Motion M1400 the New Editor's Choice

More about Tablet PCs-
Last night I was playing with Alias SketchBook. (Unfortunately this was not on the new Motion M1400 Tablet PC. Oh well!) This is an art program on a Tablet PC. One of the things I like about this program is that it's pressure sensitive. Basically, the harder you push, the darker the lines appear. I drew a really cool butterfly!

The only problem I had with Alias SketchBook was that the pencil drew too lightly. Even though I pressed really hard, the lines barely showed up. I suspect with practice I'll become better with using the pencils. Otherwise the program was great!
